Every rescue horse arrives with a unique history and its own set of needs. Our unwavering commitment is to provide the love, care and attention they’ve been denied. We begin by crafting a personalized nutritional plan, ensuring each horse receives the nourishment needed to regain strength and reach a healthy weight. Malnutrition is a common challenge among our rescues, but our dedication extends beyond addressing basic needs. We meticulously assess and tend to each horse’s veterinary, farrier, and dental requirements, laying a solid foundation for their physical well-being.
Adopting a horse from SMHR is relatively seamless. Applicants will be asked to provide a vet and farrier reference as well as pictures of where the horse will call its home. SMHR likes to see if the horse responds well on the ground or by be ridden by the potential home. At the end of the day, it is at SMHR’s discretion to decide not only if a home is suitable to the individual horses needs but also if the horse fits the individual's needs. It is also important for the home to remember that a rescue horse is just a horse that was let down by other people.
